Dillan, on the way to Scouts: Daddy, I love and like you.
Dave: I love and like you too.
Dillan: You’re the best.
Dave: Well, thanks Dillan. A lot of kids probably think their dad is the best. They can’t all be the best. I’m probably just an okay dad.
Dillan: No, you are the best. That’s my opinion.
Dave: Thanks Dillan!
Dillan: Do you know why you’re the best?
Dave: No, why? Cause I’m taking you to Scouts?
Dillan: No, because you adopted me. I was thinking that whole time we’d have to go to another house, and it kept going longer and longer, and then you kept me.
Dave: It did kind of drag on a long time. So long a time to where you loved us and we loved you. We couldn’t say we didn’t love you any more and tell you to just go away – that would be mean. So, we adopted you instead.
Dillan: I’m glad you did.
Dave: We are too.
