Slept through to my second alarm, took kids to bus stop and went to work. Lesa worked from home. Around noon I asked Lesa if she wanted to go to Salem and look at the Sandalwood XL model right after work and she did. I left an hour early and picked up the kids from the bus stop and then picked up Lesa and off we headed toward Salem. The house was in two pieces and wrapped so we could only look through the windows but that’s okay, we know what it looks like, this is the model we looked at three years ago when we originally bought the property. We would have done this earlier but we were misled to believe the price increased and the price we were quoted was much more money then it was worth so we said no and started the long road of let’s buy, let’s build, let’s add on, and over and over again for the next two years. We decided to buy and asked about options. With lots of options and 5 bedrooms and 2 baths we came out at $144,003.37 – but no basement or upstairs, no garage or porch, and less room but it has everything we need if not everything we want so we signed! I’m happy because of the price and we can maintain status quo in lifestyle, Lesa is happy to be in something new and different and on our property, and the kids are happy to finally have their own rooms, it will be Spring 2021 before we’re done and moved in. Using the Zillow.com mortgage calculator we’re looking at $970 a month on a 15-year fixed for loan, taxes, insurance, everything. We’ll pay more than that and pay off early like we did this home. Awesome! We’ll need $28,800 down for the house, $25,000 for septic and water and electric hookups, neither is an issue. I was really not wanting to pay $1300 a month for 30 years for the TK home. My brain thinks money and long term sustainability, Lesa is totally thinking new house but more importantly she seems okay with a manufactured, if we didn’t have kids it’d be a nicer stick-built home but everything’s a trade-off and you can’t take any of it with you. Afterward we got dinner from Arby’s in Salem if you want to call that dinner. When we hit Bedford Lesa suggested we go to Jiffy Treat for some ice cream. Got home at 7:30 and homework, showers, and a little TV before bed.
