Dave: What?

Dillan: Why do people keep giving us swimming pools?

Dave: People give us things because they want to help us.

Dillan: Why?

Dave: People want to help us because they want to show God’s love through them, and because they know how expensive and hard it must be to take care of four kids that aren’t our kids yet, and because they want to make you kids feel better and have fun and not be sad.

Dillan: Why do people think I’m sad?

Dave: Well, people think that maybe you miss your real mom and dad sometimes and that might make you sad, and some people might think that the way your were treated might make you sad too.

Dillan: I’m not sad, I’m mad.

Dave: It’s okay to be mad sometimes but you can’t be mad all the time. When you’re mad all the time it’s hard to be happy. Besides, you might be sad someday, right?

Dillan: Noooo, I’m only sad about my grandpa. I miss him.

Dave: Which one?

Dillan: I don’t know.

Dave: I can tell you a little bit about both of your grandpas. Wanna hear?
