No school today because it’s a Teacher Professional Development day. Lesa took PTO to stay with the kids. I went into work. All activities were supposed to be canceled but Ashley’s music teacher scheduled a rehearsal and so Lesa took Ashley and I picked her up on my way home from work. Got the heads up from Ashley that Dillan is in trouble. At dinner Lesa told the tale. Apparently, Bruce went into Dillan’s room to look around. Bruce said he is missing money and Dillan suddenly had money. So, strike one against Bruce for snooping around in Dillan’s room. Dillan got mad, and not quite sure how things escalated but Dillan wound up cursing and throwing the F-bomb a couple of times and slamming stuff around. Lesa yelled at him to go outside and he did. Still pissed off, he threw Bruce’s bike into the woods. He came back inside still pissed off and he body-checked Bruce halfway across the living room – in front of Lesa. Not quite sure how things de-escalated either. So, several strikes for Dillan – I count three-ish? Lesa didn’t know what to do. She’s afraid of him. He can hurt the other kids. He can hurt her. Anyway, in front of all the kids, while still at the kitchen table, I told Lesa the next time Dillan loses control of himself to dial 911 and tell them your teen son is going berserk and you’re afraid he’s going to hurt someone or himself. Let law enforcement deal with his ass. His anger has always been an issue and he insists on getting physical when he loses control – so call the cops. If he comes for you, go to your room and lock the door. If he still comes for you, shoot him. And that is what she’ll do the next time – she just needed to hear she has my permission to do what she needs to do to stay safe. That is for the next time. For this time I told him surrender his phone. That really pissed him off but he won’t f*ck with me – that would be a big mistake and he knows better so he handed me his phone. He thinks we’re being unfair and letting Bruce get away with what Dillan considers to be a major offense and we told him all he had to do was yell down to Lesa that Bruce was snooping in his room and Bruce would be the one getting in trouble, not Dillan. So we reiterated to Bruce to stay out of other folks rooms unless invited to go in. We still don’t know what happened to Bruce’s money either. Lesa has a right to feel safe in her own home. Period. Dillan is usually a good kid and he loves Lesa but he doesn’t think right when he’s angry – all he sees is the anger. We had to head out to go square dancing so that put a nice stopping point on the unpleasant conversation. We had fun dancing, at least it seemed like we had fun dancing, at least I had fun dancing. Back home, Lesa fed and secured chickens then read, Ashley took care of Blackie and went into her room, the boys watched TV, Dillan stayed in his room, and I watched TV for a little bit too. Bedtime for all, and myself shortly, and hopefully Dillan doesn’t kill us all while we sleep.
