Dear Diary,

I got to go home with Dwyane tonight. I was so excited to see my old friends Dillan and Ashley and their brother Bruce! They’ve all gotten so big since the last time I saw them!

And now they’re a real family because Dwyane’s mom and dad, Lesa and Dave, adopted all four of them last summer. Dwyane was telling me all about it.

When we got home from school it started to rain ice! All the trees were making a crackling noise and Dave and Lesa were afraid the power might go off – but it stayed on.

We got a phone call saying school is canceled. Yeah! Dwyane is hoping for lots of snow tonight so we can go sledding tomorrow.

It rarely snows in Mexico City but it snows every year on the high mountain peaks and volcanoes on the outskirts of Mexico City.

I think snow will be fun! Lesa says I need to finish up and get ready for bed. I’m going to sleep with Dwyane tonight. We’re going to dream about snow and sleds.

Good night! Love, Pablo

Dear Diary,

It snowed on top of all the ice while I slept! Because school was closed, and Lesa and Dave had to go to work, I got to go to Dwyane’s daycare.

The teachers were nice to me and I got to see some of Dwyane’s friends but not all of them because some of them stayed home.

One of the teachers asked Dave if we could play outside and he said yes so we all got dressed and played in the snow.

I have fur and a thick layer of fat under my skin so I didn’t even get cold! It was fun!

At Dwyane’s house Lesa dressed us really warm and let us go sledding on Dwyane’s big hill! It was awesome! Afterward, we had hot chocolate with marshmallows!

We ate pizza and watched a movie! I think my favorite pizza is cheese and pepperoni just like Dwyane.

I am so tired. I am ready to go to bed!

Good night! Love, Pablo

Dear Diary,

We were running around and yelling and woke up Dave and Lesa this morning. We were so excited to go sledding again and couldn’t help it!

Lesa said it was way too cold! She told us how windchill makes it seem even colder to our skin. But after lunch, when the sun was higher, it warmed up enough to go sledding.

Dave drove us to a big hill, even bigger than Dwyane’s hill, and we sledded – a lot! Even Dave and Lesa sledded and they’re old! Dwyane got on Dave, and I got on Dwyane, and away we went!

I had great time! Everyone did. We had more hot chocolate, and then played on the Wii. We mostly played Dance Party. Dwyane is a good dancer.

After supper we took warm baths. It felt nice. The bath made me super sleepy so I think I’ll go to bed now.

Good night! Love, Pablo

Dear Diary,

I went to church with Dwyane’s family. There are lots of people at their church who love them very much! Dwyane’s family say they are proof that God answers prayers.

It was -8°F when we left for church and 20°F when we got back. We played outside after lunch, we sledded on Dwyane’s hill, and even went swinging and sliding down Dwyane’s slide! It was crazy!

Dave pushed our sleds to help us go even faster! We got cold and went back inside. Hot chocolate again!

We all played Super Mario on Wii, we didn’t want to stop playing but Lesa made us quit so we could eat supper.

Afterward we watched Ratatouille movie on television. I almost feel asleep during the movie!

I had another fun day!

Good night! Love, Pablo

Dear Diary,

Dwyane and his mommy Lesa get off for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Dwyane’s daddy Dave says his favorite quote from him is “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

Dave worked then shoveled snow. It snowed all day. When it stopped we stuck a ruler in the snow and it said 9″ total at Dwyane’s house.

FedEx couldn’t get up Dwyane’s hill so they dropped Lesa’s package off at the Springville store. Dave went and picked it up. He has 4-wheel drive.

It was a new sled Lesa ordered over a week ago! Perfect timing! Of course we had to try it out right away!

I like snow but maybe we have too much? Dave had to drive his truck up and down to flatten the snow so we could sled without sinking.

I’m tired, and sore, and sleepy so I’m going to bed now.

Good night! Love, Pablo

Dear Diary,

We stayed at home, school was closed because of snow. It was too cold to go out with below zero windchills.

Lesa tried to keep us busy with games and activities. We made a tent in Ashley’s room.

Dave and Ashley went to Bedford to get Dwyane’s prints for class. Us boys played cars.

The kids wanted burritos but Lesa fixed tacos instead. She wanted me to feel feel more at home.

Lesa says burritos are called Tex Mex and more popular in Northern Mexico and Texas, and tacos are more popular in Central and Southern Mexico. I just know they were tasty!

Everyone is ready to go back to school. I think Dwyane is kind of bored with sledding.

It was a lazy day. Everyone just layed around. I think we’re all tired, I know I am!

Good night! Love, Pablo

Dear Diary,

We went to daycare again today. We watched movies, played some games, and played with toys. Bruce did his normal pre-school activities. It was so boring!

We were really happy to find out school starts again tomorrow – even if we’re going in later than usual. Snow is fun but not as fun as school!

I can’t believe I just said that but it’s true! I miss all my friends, and the routine, and the different activities, and all the different stuff I get to learn. School is fun and exciting!

I also can’t believe I’ve been at Dwyane’s house for almost a whole week! I like Dwyane but I want to visit some of my other friends before I have to go back home.

Hopefully I’ll get to visit with Bruce next year! I’m so excited to go back to school I can hardly sleep, but I’m going to try my best.

Good night! Love, Pablo
