Hair cut, beard gone, Ashley requested goatee for awhile. Work for Lesa, school for the kids, work for me. Bruce had iLearn at school today, don’t know how he did. Lesa picked up Dwyane and Bruce from Kid Zone. Dillan and Ashley rode the bus to Spencer for track meet against Owen Valley, Seven-Oaks, and The Project School. Lesa took the boys to their baseball game, they lost 6-0, Lesa said they had butterfingers all night. I left work and went to Spencer for the track meet, stopped at Walmart to get some high-energy snacks and Gatorade. In case you’re wondering – Blue Gatorade. Owen Valley used Above and Beyond Timing so getting stats is easy. Dillan ran the 4x800m Relay and they won, Dillan was anchor, I don’t have the split but the time was 10:10.64. His second event was the 1600m, he took third with 5:48.07, he started lane one with the fastest seed time but the Seven-Oaks kid was fast and beat Dillan by 10 seconds, and Jacob Crites overtook Dillan at the end because Dillan doesn’t have much of a kick. His third running event was the 2400m, a race he hasn’t run before, and he killed it – 1st place with 9:21.78! He also did high jump, placed 4th, and cleared 4’4″. Not a bad day for Dillan. Ashley also competed but she was very much exhausted it appeared – she’s been doing track and the musical and burning both ends. She placed 5th in the 400m with 1:24.07. She placed 9th in the 800m with 3:43.86. She was on the 4x100m Alternate team and ran the anchor but the team did not score. Finally, she placed 7th in the high jump and cleared 3’8″. Both kids tired, both gave what they had to give, proud of them both. Took them to Wendy’s in Spencer for dinner since it was late, and then home to celebrate with Lesa. Kids love telling their tales and we love listening! These kids are so friggin awesome – all of them – and I thank God that he gave us the opportunity and the honor to take care of them for him!
