It’s Christmas Eve. Kids were so excited they could hardly contain themselves but they tried. There is snow on the ground, just a smattering of it, barely covers the porch but enough for the kids to get excited over it. Ashley and I went shopping before lunch. We went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and got some body spray for Lesa. Then we went to Walmart and got her a couple of sweaters and cards from the kids and myself. Went to Dollar General and got Ashley a soda. Finally, we went to Rural King and got some gloves for Lesa, some straw for the rabbits, and a couple of rabbit treats. Got home and we had lunch. The kids made sugar cookies for Santa. After that, Ashley and me wrapped Lesa’s gifts, except the gloves which are going in her stocking. The tree is overflowing with gifts! I lowered the nesting box in the chicken coop and Lesa directed me on where to put up another heat lamp. We had supper, our normal Thursday night bacon and eggs, and then we let the kids eat their gingerbread houses. Lesa had found a candlelight service people can do in their homes since COVID has limited church activities so we had the candlelight service and the Scripture reading and devotion that went with it. Sometime after 6pm, not sure when, Noel the elf disappeared along with the book, and the kids were sitting right there in front of both and they still disappeared, very strange. We started with Bruce handing out gifts but that wasn’t fast enough so all the kids started handing out gifts. Ready, set, go and the packages started opening, lots of excitement, everyone really enjoyed everything they received, I don’t think anyone was disappointed. We let the kids play and around 11pm I chased them off to bed but not before setting out milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. NORAD said two hours until Santa arrives so we were just in time. The kids went to sleep surprisingly easy, only had to get on them once, they’re all asleep dreaming of tomorrow morning.
