Got up at our normal church time. Lesa showered, I was checking email and drinking coffee, we were waiting for our 10:30a C3 church start time. We let the kids go outside and play, more snow overnight, enough to sled. The boys made a ramp and were sledding over the ramp, Ashley joined them. About 10a we heard screaming, Dwyane came in the door, he was completely bloody, Lesa did her “Ooohhhh” and stepped back, I immediately got up and told him to go to our bathroom and told all the other kids that followed to stay out. He had a 2½-3 inch laceration on his forehead, I couldn’t see the skin, it was folded up under, and it was bleeding profusely, I got a washrag and had him hold it there, yelled for Lesa to get some gauze, and then I broke out the first aid kid and got it myself before she had a chance. Stacked three gauze pads on top and wrapped an entire roll of gauze around his head to hold them in place. He was spitting blood so I checked his teeth and tongue and they seemed okay. I got dressed and ready to take Dwyane to the hospital. Bruce was sobbing uncontrollably, I told him Dwyane would be okay just before left but it did help, Lesa was finally able to get Bruce calmed down after we left. All the kids were really shook up. Dwyane was a total trooper and very brave, it hurt when they numbed him up but after that he was good. Emily Harding from daycare a long long ago is now a nurse and she talked to Dwyane but he didn’t remember her but I did, she gave Dwyane a sucker. It took eleven stitches to sew him up. I bought him Wendy’s for lunch and a Frosty of course. Made Dwyane take it easy again. He played with Playdoh, his tablet, my phone, cars, and legos. The other kids played as well, sometimes with him, and sometimes not. It was a stressful day and we’re glad it turned out okay. Lesa had kids get all their school supplies ready, load backpacks, set out clothes, etc. Going to have to write a note to keep Dwyane out of gym class tomorrow. Helped Ashley put straw in the rabbit hutch. We had the hamburgers for dinner. We watched television and sent the kids to bed on time, the boys didn’t settled down until the big kids went to bed. Thankfully the big kids followed instructions and went right to bed and the boys followed suit.
