Got up easy, but we didn’t get lazy either, I asked Lesa if she wanted to go check out the puppies I saw last night and she said yes so we got the kids dressed and ready and we went to Delilah’s Pet Shop, all seven were available but the post was just 12 hours old, and we were the first to check them out but two were in line after us. The kids got in a pen with them and we really liked two of them, one golden and the other black. Both were very friendly and active and outgoing and it was a hard choice but we settled for the black one because she was the most friendly and outgoing. She loved the kids and they loved her too. Bruce wanted the golden one but he likes the black one too. The pup is a Golden Retriever / Border Collie mix and should be a great dog for the kids. Cost us way too much but it was what we envisioned for the kids and will create the experience we want for them – hard to put a price on that. So we got us a puppy but what are we going to call her? We had a hard time naming her, we always name dogs by the place they come from, she was originally from French Lick, we got her from Delilah’s on Kimble Road in Bloomington Township in Bloomington City in Monroe County and we thought of Frenchie, Baden, Bloomie, Bee, Kimble, Bloom, Flower (from flowers that bloom), and others that didn’t really fit with our tradition, the kids thought Bloom would work best. I like two syllable names because it’s easier (feels more natural to me) to call a name with two syllables and it seems to rolls off the tongue easier, once she knows Bloom I’ll call her Bloomie. The kids are absolutely ecstatic over her – she’s a far cry from Louise! She is what a person thinks of when they think of a puppy. Of course Porter and Switzee are having issues, mostly Switzee. Don’t know if I mentioned it but Louise got adopted by an elderly man about a week after we returned her. It was on January 11th I think. Anyway, she’ll be so much happier in her new placement – no children, less noise, slower pace and slower movements. We’re all so happy she got adopted! Lesa about cried. So the kids played with Bloom almost all day, Ashley wants to make Bloom her dog, and we’re totally okay with that. She picked up after her, took her out to go potty, fed her, brushed her, etc. We all like Bloom and she won’t just be Lesa’s dog, she belongs to all of us. The kids did play outside some, well the boys did, but Ashley had a hard time pulling herself away from the puppy. We had supper and watched television and the kids all took showers except Dillan. Kids got really upset that we didn’t let the puppy stay in their rooms and accused us of trying to take the dog for ourselves. It was a happy day.
