Got up early, drank a cup of coffee, and while the wife and kids were fighting and yelling I went outside and started working on the coop. I pulled the old run down and saved the clips I used to hopefully reuse. I then had to get a car jack and jack the T-posts out of the ground, been in there several years, plus we haven’t had much rain for the last month or two, and the ground was like concrete. Got them up but I had to wrap chain around the posts and then the jack and even then I thought the post would bend or the chain would break from the amount of pressure exerted. The boys kept getting too close for safety sake, they wanted to see the huge chunk of earth that came up with the posts, they thought it was cool. I didn’t get that done until after lunch. Then I started building the new run for the new coop. The ground was almost too hard to drive the posts back in, I had to wear gloves and still trashed my hands, it was slow going but I drove those suckers in, then I attached the fencing to the posts, and called that done. Lesa prepped the inside of the coop while I was doing all that. I built some new roosts and attached the last window and I called that done too. We wrangled all the chickens in the run and the kids were totally thrilled about the coop and the run and have taken a new interest in the chickens, all of them talking and watching them – I had fun watching the chickens and the kids myself. I showered and about passed out but made it to supper. Then I put my tools up and plugged in power so Lesa could run some lights out there. We had to “help” the chickens into the coop and I called myself done after that. Watched some TV with the kids and now it’s bed time.
