Walter Bowman
Walter Scott Bowman, 34, of Shelbyville, formerly of Lexington, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, in a car wreck at U.S. 9 and Mill Road in Shelbyville.
He was born June 23, 1979, in Scottsburg, to Sharon A. Turner. He was raised in Scott County and was a 1997 graduate of Scottsburg High School. He had resided in the Shelbyville community for the past nine years. He was employed the past five-and-one-half years with Penske Logistics Food Distribution in Shelbyville. He was raised in the Pentecostal faith and had attended Solid Rock Community Church near Deputy. He enjoyed being with his family, caring for his sons and daughter, playing basketball, playing video games and telling jokes.
He is survived by his companion, Nicole Moffett of Shelbyville; two sons, Seth Andrew Bowman and Alex Clay Bowman, both of Shelbyville; one daughter, Kaitlyn Bowman of Shelbyville; his mother and stepfather, Sharon A. Turner Graw and Richard Graw of Lexington; one brother, Chris Bowman of Lexington; his grandmother, Iola Richardson Angel of Scottsburg; one niece; 13 aunts and uncles; and several cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Wayne Campbell, who died Jan. 14, 2001; his grandfathers, Virgil J. Angel, who died March 31, 2013, and Wallace Turner Sr., who died Aug. 24, 1999; two aunts; and one niece.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Solid Rock Community Church, 3203 N. Blanton Road, near Scottsburg. Burial will be in Spurgeon Cemetery near Austin.
Friends may call at the church today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Scott’s Children’s Memorial Fund. Contributions can be made through the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, which is in charge of arrangements.
